Description
Join us for a day focusing on citizen science and water. The day will include presentations, stalls and an outdoor demonstration. Booking essential.
Citizen science on the water can be a powerful tool in the drive to improve water quality in the UK. It can fill any gaps in official data by providing accurate, up-to-date and, above all, local information.
But community groups need help in establishing and maintaining water quality monitoring programmes that deliver results.
The Water Day will enable citizen science groups in the Moorlands and beyond to learn from each other’s experiences and gain first-hand access to the expertise of public bodies involved in water quality.
The morning session will be held in Moorlands House, Leek and will feature stalls and highly focused set of presentations from Trent Rivers Trust, Staffordshire Ecological Records and the Environment Agency.
After a networking lunch we will move to Severn Trent Water’s Tittesworth reservoir for a practical demonstration of river fly monitoring and water testing.
The Moorlands Water Day will be fun, informative and suitable for individuals or community groups already involved in citizen science or just thinking of dipping their toes in the water.
